Happy Holidays Are NOT The Reality For Many Families.  Addiction Ruins The Festivities Often At This Time Of Year.

The year-end holidays are traditionally celebrated with family and friends. Expectations are high with visions of laughter, connection and good cheer.

For many families, what actually happens over the holiday season is in stark contrast to what’s pictured in people’s minds and in the media. Food and drink are in abundance at most holiday gatherings. The easy availability of alcohol creates stress and havoc in the lives of many people with addiction. Calls to our office always increase during this time because it’s common for problems -and the emotions that accompany them -to escalate.

Through the NCADD-Sacramento donor program, our goal is to raise funds to support families in need of education and treatment from the disease of alcoholism and drug dependence.  If you would  like to support a family in understanding the disease that affects them,  a donation of $100 will provide counseling services to a family for one month!  Please visit our Support NCADD-Sacramento web page and learn more about that program or others.  You may also donate online on this page.

NCADD offers many volunteer opportunities- you could help answer the HOPELINE,  help out in Playcare, assist in organizing our many events or even help cook for our clients.

We are pleased to report that through the dedication and generosity of our staff, and donors from throughout the Sacramento region, we were able to provide holiday gifts to the 108 children of the women in our perinatal program!  Many of our traditional donor sources were unable to help this year, so we just got the word out and made things happen. The women and children were deeply moved by the outpouring of support and materials that helped make their holidays a celebration to remember.

Through your generosity, we can help break the cycle of addiction in families throughout the Sacramento region.  Thank you for believing in Recovery!
