An Opportunity to Learn About Addiction Free Pain Management on April 18-20 in Sacramento.

It is important to have an understanding of the impact of common pain treatment for addicts in recovery. Relapse is inevitable if pain management includes opiate-type medications such as OxyContin.

Medical providers also need to better understand the effects of opiate-based pain killers, which were not meant to be used over the long-term to manage pain.  These drugs will eventually create phantom pain for the user, also contributing to relapse and depression.

Dr. Stephen Grinstead is a leading authority on addiction-free pain management. He is known for his cutting-edge  pain management modalities and has over 28 years of experience and expertise in the fields of mental health, addiction and chronic pain management. He specializes in challenging cases focused on chronic pain with coexisting psychological disorders, including addiction.

Dr. Grinstead is a Licensed Psychotherapist, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of California, with a Doctorate in Addictive Disorders. He is also a nationally recognized expert, instructor, and motivational speaker in denial, relapse prevention and chronic pain with co-existing disorders.

In the Addiction Free Pain Management® (APM) 20 CE Hour Certification training, Dr. Grinstead will teach you the skills needed to successfully work with people with chronic pain and potential or actual addictive disorders. APM™ is a strategic clinical training process that addresses the challenges of addictive disorders and those associated with pain disorders. You will be trained to implement the three core components of APM™: (a) Core Clinical Components; (b) Medication Management Planning; and (c) Nonpharmacological Interventions. The above tasks will be accomplished using a combination of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, as well as dyad and small group exercises. You will walk away with an arsenal of skills that you can put to immediate use.
