NCADD Sacramento is growing in many directions, meeting the needs of the Sacramento region. We are very pleased to announce that we have brought on board a local businessman whose skills will be of great service in two of our expanding service areas – the 24/7 Hopeline and outreach to employers.
Jim Metzker has been an active member in the Sacramento business community since 1983. He owned several small businesses, opening and managing small and large businesses for over 30 years. In 2010, he went back to school to obtain his chemical dependency and sociology degree, which he completed in 2012.
An active member in the addiction and treatment field for the last 6 years, Jim has volunteered at recovery homes and detox centers, participating in all facets of recovery. He is now participating in the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce on behalf of NCADD Sacramento to bring awareness to addiction and how it impacts the employment base in our business community. His education continues as he attends workshops, focus groups and seminars to increase his awareness of this ever-growing disease.
The expansion of NCADD’s 24/7 Hopeline has been Jim’s first assignment. Managing a team of skilled volunteers, the Hopeline is a free service available to residents throughout NCADD’s region, including Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado Counties. Individuals and concerned family members call looking for accurate information to help themselves or a loved one impacted by the disease of addiction. Hopeline operators provide referral information to in-house programs and a multitude of outside services ranging from detox to women’s empowerment. The expansion will take place as Jim makes the availability of this service known to medical professionals, homeless shelters and employers throughout the region.
Welcome to the team Jim Metzker!
