Sheila Macias has worked in community and program development for over 25 years.

While pursuing a bachelors degree, and to fulfill an internship requirement, she began working in the substance abuse field and from that point on knew that this was the career she wanted to pursue.

Before graduating she was hired as the Options for Recovery Child Development Coordinator to build, strengthen and expand the Child Development and Prenatal Exposed Infant Program.

Over the next 10 years, she worked in several recovery programs in both Sacramento and Yolo County as a counselor, program coordinator, trainer, consultant and manager.  She was eventually recruited by Sac State to develop a new program where over a 13 year span she advanced from Coordinator to Director and was managing five programs by the time of her retirement in 2013.  The programs provided resources, referrals and support to faculty, community organizations – ranging from government, community and faith based organizations to school districts – where an average of 3000 students annually volunteered to serve the communities of the Sacramento Region.

Sheila now looks forward to bringing those same skills and passion in serving others to NCADD in her part-time position as Community Relations Manager.  You can reach Sheila at
