As the national tour of Pass It On…An Evening with Bill W. & Dr. Bob made its Sacramento debut, its promises of hope and recovery did not disappoint the hundreds of people in attendance.
It was clear how moved people were by the story of William Griffith Wilson “Bill W.” and Doctor Robert Smith “Dr. Bob”, as their message resonated emotionally, educationally and furthered awareness of the origins of Alcoholics Anonymous.
While alcoholism remains the primary core of addiction, membership in AA is on the decline, thus making this national tour so important for people seeking recovery.
That being said, Alcoholics Anonymous has inspired mutual aid fellowships with close variations of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions for dozens of other addictions including:
- CA – Cocaine Anonymous
- CLA – Clutterers Anonymous
- CMA – Crystal Meth Anonymous
- Co-Anon – for friends and family of addicts
- CoDA – Co-Dependents Anonymous – for people working to end patterns of dysfunctional relationships
- DA – Debtors Anonymous
